CENTER OF BONE
BIOLOGY
The Center is a research department of the Institute of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade, founded in 1995 as a Laboratory of Anthropology for the purpose of providing a research facility for the study of human remains from archaeological and forensic sites. Over the years, the laboratory has developed into a national center of excellence, the leading bone research center in the region with intensive international cooperation and an interdisciplinary approach to the topics related to bone hierarchical structure, bone aging, bone fragility, and bone diseases.
The synergistic work of experts from different fields (archaeologists, anatomists, pathologists, orthopedists, radiologists) within one research team provides a direct opportunity for an interdisciplinary approach and a more versatile analysis of the research subject.
