Exhibition Circle of Life and Death – Analyses of Different Perspectives , City Museum in Sombor, Serbia
On May 25th, 2023, the exhibition Circle of Life and Death – Analyses of Different Perspectives (Krug života i smrti – analize drugačijih perspektiva) was opened in the City Museum in Sombor. The exhibition includes a realistic reconstruction of an artificially deformed skull of a child from the middle of the 6th century AD. Bioanthropological analysis of this skeleton was carried out in the Center for Bone Biology. On that occasion, we noted that, at the moment of death, the child was between 5 and 7 years of age. The skull was artificially modified, using a method that belongs to the tabular oblique type of deformation and can be classified as heavily deformed. The deformation was achieved by applying double bandaging techniques, probably using bandages, bands, tapes, and a headdress. Additionally, a realistic 3D model of this child’s skull was formed and 3D printed in the Center of Bone Biology and presented at this exhibition.
